Ekanta Apan

Ekanta Apan (also spelled Akanto Apon) is a nice picnic spot near Madhyamgram station in North 24 Parganas district. It is ideal for picnic during a lovely winter morning. The picnic spot spans over an area of one bigha. There are various things like swings, slips for entertainment of children. There is separate arrangement for cooking.

How to Reach

Local trains are running from Sealdah to Madhyamgram station. From Madhyamgram station, vans and rickshaws are available to reach the picnic spot. If you prefer to go by car take VIP Road, Jessore Road and reach Madhyamgram Chowmatha. From there take Badu bound road to reach this spot.

Rabindra Kanan Sishu Udyan

Rabindra Kanan Sishu Udyan is a beautiful picnic spot situated near Budge Budge of South 24 Parganas district. Spanning over a large area, the garden is full of trees namely Sal, Teak, Pine, Devdaru, Krishnachura, Arjun and Eucalyptus. A number of bungalows are there inside the garden. Paddle boating facility is also available. There is a children's playground too which hosts a number of fun items for children including sea-saw, jungle gymnasium, slipper, swing and balancing rock.

How to Reach

This garden is located near Budge Budge - Birlapur Notun Rasta More. Buses are available from Esplanade and Taratala to reach Birlapur Notun Rasta More or Kalitala Bus Stop. You can also come by Budge Budge bound minibuses and disembark at Indian Oil LPG Stop. One can also reach Budge Budge from Sealdah by local train. Auto rickshaws are available from Budge Budge station to reach Rabindra Kanan Sishu Udyan.

Garchumuk

Garchumuk is an ideal picnic spot located 60 km from Kolkata. The place is situated near the confluence of River Hooghly and River Damodar offering a beautiful view of the river. Hundreds of visitors flock to Garchumuk during winter to view the spectacular barrage called Atanna Gate (58 No. Gate) where 58 lock gates have been built. The Deer Park at Garchumuk is an added attraction. One can also go for a boat ride in River Damodar.

You can get Gadiara-bound buses from Esplanade and disembark at Atanna Gate bus stop. Local trains are running from Howrah to Uluberia. From there buses and cars are plying to Garchumuk.
