Kolaghat

Kolaghat is a popular picnic destination situated at a distance of 74 km from Kolkata in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. The place is located on the banks of the Rupnarayan River. Here, one can get a true experience of picnicking under the open sky.

There is no need to book picnic spot.
It is advisable to go early in the morning in order to occupy the best place for picnic.


How to Reach

Trains are running from Howrah to Kolaghat. Kolaghat is also easily accessible from Kolkata by road.

Geonkhali

Geonkhali is an excellent picnic spot in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. The point where the three rivers Rupnarayan, Bhagirathi and Damodar meet is located very close to Geonkhali. It makes the place very scenic and beautiful. In winter many tourists come here to spend some days or just for a picnic. From here a path goes to Haldia Development Authority Tourist Complex. One can watch the coming and going of the ships. You can take a boat ride from Geonkhali to Gadiara. Mahishadal is another nearby attraction, 16 km from Geonkhali.

How to Reach

You can reach Nurpur from Esplanade by bus. It will take about one and half hour to reach there. From Nurpur you can get launch which will take you to Geonkhali. This will take half an hour.

Gopegarh

Gopegarh is a popular picnic spot located at a distance of 2.5 km from Medinipur. The place has derived its name from the name of Gope king who once ruled here. Gopegarh Eco Park is situated on the banks of Kangsabati river. A number of hillocks and trees and forests surround the area which makes picnic at this eco-park an amazing experience. The park hosts a variety of trees including Shal, Bakul, Tekosha etc. You can take a stroll to the tribal villages inside the forests.

How to Reach

You can reach Medinipur from Howrah by local trains. From there you can hire a car to reach Gopegarh. Buses are also plying from Medinipur Bus Stand to Gopegarh.

Regal Guest House

Regal Guest House is an excellent picnic spot located near Mecheda station in Purba Medinipur District. The guest house covers an area of 34 bigha. There are numerous trees and flower gardens here. The guest house comprises of children's park, gym, conference hall, health club, mini zoo, pagoda and ponds. You can also go for fishing.

How to Reach

You can reach Mecheda station from Howrah by local train. Regal Guest House is 2 km from the station. If you go by car, take NH6, cross Sarat Setu and turn left. Then cross Mecheda Flyover and you will find yourself in front of a statue of Vidyasagar. Turn left from here and drive a little to reach Regal Guest House.
