Chayakuthi

Chayakuthi Picnic Spot is a lovely picnic spot located in Akra Santoshpur at a close proximity to Kolkata. The place is situated in a serene environment on the bank of Hooghly River. Inside the spot, there is a large lawn and a two storey bungalow. The bungalow consists of 2 AC and 3 Non-AC rooms. The whole area is secured with a boundary wall which makes it safe for children to play games, roam around and enjoy. A 2-minutes walk from Chayakuthi will take you to a beautiful park standing on the river bank. The park is well laden with trees, flowers and shrubs along with slips, swings and other children's attractions.

How to Reach

You can board Budge Budge Local from Sealdah (South) station and disembark at Akra. You can book an auto rickshaw from Akra station to reach Chayakuthi. Rickshaws are also available from Akra station to reach Chayakuthi Picnic Spot. Chayakuthi can also be reached by car from Kolkata.

Monobitan

Monobitan Park is a nice picnic destination located at a close proximity to Kolkata. Swabhiman Park

Swabhiman Park is a nice picnic spot in Baranagar in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Located at a very close proximity to Kolkata, this park is managed by the Bonhooghly Fishermen's Co-operative Society Limited. The park is well decorated and maintained. There is a large lake inside the park. Boating facilities are also available.

How to Reach

The best way to reach the picnic spot is to board any Dunlop-bound bus and disembark at Indian Statistical Institute bus stop. Swabhiman Park is a few minutes walking distance from the bus stop. Local trains are also running from Sealdah to Baranagar Road. The park is easily accessible from Baranagar Road station.

Dhuturdaha

Dhuturdaha is a wonderful picnic spot located in South 24 Parganas district. The peaceful and serene village of Dhuturdaha is 40 km from Science City in Kolkata and 18 km from Ghatakpur. There is a swimming pool and lake. The picnic spot is surrounded by landscaped gardens, trees and flowers.

Each day maximum 2 groups are allowed to picnic here.
There are AC and Non AC rooms for accommodation.

How to Reach

Buses are plying from Kolkata to Malancha. You have to disembark at Minakha and take an auto rickshaw to Dhuturdaha. If you want to get to Dhuturdaha by car from Kolkata, take Basanti Highway from Science City and reach Minakha. From there, take right to reach Dhuturdaha.

Ram Mandir Garden

Ram Mandir Garden is a beautiful picnic spot located 40 km from Kolkata. Situated in Jagatballabhpur of Howrah, the garden is ideal for picnic with family, friends or colleagues. The garden is full of orchids, palms, cashews, mango, oranges, teak and sal trees along with seasonal flower bed. You can climb a 10 ft high, 'Tree Top Mancha' to get a feel of the breeze and enjoy the view. There are two lakes with benches on the side for sitting. A lawn is there for playing purposes. Catering, chair-table, music system are available on hire basis.

Kamala Picnic Garden

Kamala Picnic Garden is located very close to Kolkata. The garden spans over an area of 8 bighas. A large lake with boating facility is there. Apart from the lake there is a flower garden which hosts a variety of seasonal flowers. There is a separate place for cooking purpose. Toilet facility is available.

From Kolkata, drive through Behala and reach Thakurpukur. From there take the road on your right side (Thakurpukur-Bakrahat Road) and drive for about 8 km to reach Shaltighata Bus Stop. Kamala Picnic Garden is situated near the main road.

Nahabat Picnic Garden

Nahabat Picnic Garden is situated in Sonarpur at a very close proximity to Kolkata. The picnic garden covers an area of 12 katha. There is a playground, a lush green lawn, swings and various other things for amusement. You can also visit the temple of Baba Panchananda located near the picnic garden.

You can reach Sonarpur from Sealdah by local train. Autorickshaws and cycle rickshaws are available from Sonarpur station to take you to Bosepukur More. Nahabat Picnic Garden is located adjacent to Bosepukur More.

Shibpur Botanical Garden

Shibpur Botanical Garden situated in Howrah is one of Asia's largest botanical garden. During winter hundreds of people come here to see the various species of trees and plants. It is also a good picnic spot. Spanning over an area of 273 acres, apart from numerous trees and plants there are a number of water bodies and lakes which makes it more attractive to the visitors.

Picnic in the open grounds of the garden is strictly prohibited. There are two pavilions for picnic purposes.
Charges for each pavilion - Rs. 350/-.
You have to bring all arrangements for picnic from outside.
One has to book the picnic spot from the garden office a few days before the date of picnic.
You have to pay parking charges if you go by car.

A number of buses of Kolkata and Howrah go to Shibpur Botanical garden. You can also reach there by taxi or private car.

Mudiali Nature Park

Mudiali Nature Park is an ideal picnic spot situated close to Kolkata. The park has been developed by Mudiali Fishermen Co-Operative Society. Apart from boating facility, there are swings, slip and other fun attractions for children. The nature park boasts of a mini zoo which hosts many deers and peacocks.
