Matri Niwas

Matri Niwas Picnic Spot is situated 3 km from Bandel station. The spot spans over an area of 7 bigha. Apart from the mango and litchi gardens the picnic spot also hosts ponds, houseboats, cottages and tents. There is a separate children's playground. The prime attractions of this place are the rabbits, swans, guinea pigs and turkeys. Peacocks are also seen here in the morning. You may also visit Debanandapur, the birth place of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The library at Debanandapur is worth seeing.

Important Information

There are two large picnic spots with boundaries and separate entries. Each picnic spot covers an area of almost 3 bighas and include one cottage/house boat, tent, toilet and playing area etc.Picnic Spot Charges (Large) : Rs. 4500/- per spot
Small groups can book family picnic spot, cottage or houseboat.
Charges for Family Picnic Spot with Tent : Rs. 2500/-
Cottage and Houseboat Charges : Rs. 1500/-
Catering facilities are made available by the management.
Cooking gas and other essential things are available on hire.

How to Reach

Local trains are running from Howrah to Bandel. Rickshaws and auto rickshaws are available from the station to reach Matri Niwas Picnic Spot. You can reach the picnic spot by car via BT Road, Dunlop and Delhi Road.
